People often say how they love my illustration ‘style’ and that they recognise my work immediately. This fascinates me, for I struggle see this and feel baffled about what my style actually is. All I know is that I create with very little conscious thoughts about style, allowing my ideas to flow straight from my heart to my hand.

Recently, it was suggested that my illustration style was PERFECT for a particular children’s book manuscript and I was asked if I would be interested in it.

Did they really say my ‘style’ was perfect??

Upon receiving the manuscript, I knew by the second line that it was perfect for me. It resonated with me so deeply my heart immediately filled with emotion. Creating a sample illustration for this story, was an absolute pleasure, an honour and brought me pure joy. There were no expectations, no guarantees that anything would come from this, but deep down I knew there was something very special about this story.

With my fingers and toes constantly crossed, and my heart trusting the timely alignment of the stars above, I waited. However, the story never left my mind, and I would often find my random sketches veering back to the same characters, with their settings and emotions.

My dreams were answered, my gut was right. This children’s book was actually going to happen.

I am utterly thrilled to share that together with talented author Dimity Powell, we will be creating a very touching and poignant children’s book. We have been busting to share this wonderful news and can now shout it from the rooftops!

I feel very blessed to be part of a fabulous team and I cannot wait to share this touching children’s book with you.

Of course I my sketch books are filled with loads of ideas already, but for now here’s the envelope containing the signed book contracts.
